Chambers Co. Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that on October 24 at 12:22 PM, Deputies were called to Winnie Park for a reported stolen vehicle. The victim told deputies that a female suspect stated she had a gun, stole her keys, and fled the location in the victim’s vehicle. Deputies immediately began searching the area and determined that the vehicle was eastbound on Interstate 10.
Chambers County Dispatchers immediately began notifying agencies along Interstate 10 in an attempt to locate the suspect. At approximately 1:25 PM, officers with the Beaumont Police Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and Orange Police Department located and stopped the vehicle near the 879 mile marker. The driver, Ariel Brown, was detained without incident. Chambers County Deputies responded and took Brown into custody on a warrant for Robbery issued by Justice of the Peace Celia Devillier. No firearm was located.
“This case is an excellent demonstration of the use of technology, teamwork, and coordination to safely apprehend the suspect and return the victim’s vehicle. We appreciate the investigative skills of our deputies, the forward thinking of our dispatchers, and the resources of outside agencies who all worked together to bring this case to a close.”
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
