
Charlotte Ilene Petry, 78, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on June 27, 2025, in Vidor.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Ron Perry. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on April 11, 1947, she was the daughter of Charles Edward Brinson and Myrlene Oliver Brinson. Charlotte lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service. A proud veteran, she served in the United States Air Force, where she exemplified the values of integrity and commitment. Charlotte’s warmth and affection as a matriarch were felt deeply by her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Granny.” Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, and she treasured the special moments spent with her family. Beyond her family, Charlotte had a passion for traveling that enriched her life and opened her mind to new experiences and cultures. Her love for reading provided her peace and a means to discover new worlds, fostering her intellectual curiosity. Charlotte approached life with a steady faith that was a cornerstone of her character. She navigated her days with grace and resilience, a beacon of strength to those around her. As we remember Charlotte, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life devoted to service, family, and the pursuit of knowledge and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Myrlene Brinson; her loving husband of 22 years, Charles Petry; her son, Wayne Middleton, Jr.; her stepson, Charles “Chuck” Petry, Jr; and her sister, Evelyn Strickland.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara Anne Crowson and husband, John; her grandchildren, Lanie Crowson, and Lindse Crowson; her great-grandchild, Wyatt Dugas; her brother, Charles Brinson, Jr. and wife, Theresa; her niece, Caroline Bonin and husband, Gordon; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Duane Lummus, Drake Lummus, Roger Lewis, Ryan Arsement, Trey Brinson, Sean Brinson, and Gordon Bonin.
