Beginning in October the Commissioners Court will be meeting at different times and on different days of the week during the month. This is a change from the current policy of meeting every week on Tuesday afternoon.
Last week the Commissioners Court changed the day and time of its regular meetings from Tuesday afternoons to the second Wednesday of the month. The regular meeting will be at 10:00 AM in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Administration Building.
This week the Court approved holding special meetings which will be every week except the second Wednesday of the month. The special meetings will be scheduled for Tuesdays at 1:30 PM all the other weeks of the month. Those meetings will also be conducted in the Commissioners Courtroom.
County Judge Dean Crooks explained the reason for making the changes was to allow citizens a better opportunity to attend the meeting. The judge mentioned that some people are inhibited from attending the meetings because of school letting out in the middle of the afternoon or shift workers who may have to report to work in the afternoon. Crooks added it is hoped the earlier starting times will help more people be able to attend the meetings.
