Orange County Commissioners Court voted Tuesday to extend the burn ban in Emergency Services District #1 which includes the Vidor area for at least another week. Orange County Emergency Management Coordinator Charlie Cox made his recommendation to the Court suggesting the burn ban continue for the greater Vidor area, but did not need to be expanded to the rest of the county. Cox requested keeping the burn ban on the agenda for next week.
Cox indicates the fog that has been so thick in the morning the last few days has actually served like a rain shower. The fog has raised the moisture level on dead grass and reduced the chances of fire for most of Orange County.
