The collective bargaining talks between the Sheriff’s Office Employees Association and Orange County are still stalled. The two parties met for over two hours Thursday and do not appear any closer than they were six weeks ago when negotiations started up again.
Union attorney Greg Cagle said he was reluctant to even make a counter offer because he and the Association’s members believed the county’s last offer was a greater reduction of pay and incentives for the deputies than their previous offer. County Judge Brint Carlton said he desired to continue the bargaining process. Carlton persuaded Cagle to meet with the Association and have an offer for the county next week.
The collective bargaining process will continue into next month. The county and the union will meet Friday, June 2, at 10:00 AM in the Commissioners Courtroom.
