Richardson, Texas – Following a weekend in which the Angelo State volleyball team earned two wins against ranked opponents at the LSC Crossover, freshman middle blocker Demi Carter was named the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week, the LSC announced this afternoon.
Carter, a Marketing major from Bridge City, averaged three kills per set and hit .525 for the week as the No. 21 Rambelles defeated No. 20 DBU and No. 3 West Texas A&M in Dallas last week.
Carter started her weekend on a high note, recording a career-high 15 kills and only committing one attacking error, good enough for a .609 attack percentage. She also combined for four blocks against the Lady Patriots.
Against the nation’s third-ranked team, Carter had nine kills and hit .412; she matched her block total from the night before as the Belles snapped a five-match losing streak to the Lady Buffs.
Carter joins teammates Sydney Thornton and Adeline Ortman in the ranks of Belles who have received weekly conference honors; the Belles are the only program to receive an honor every week this season.
The Belles are 10-1 on the season, the only team in the LSC to have double-digit wins; they open LSC play on the road this weekend when they take on Midwestern State and Texas Woman’s.
