A 35-year-old man agreed to 10 years in prison for pleading guilty to robbery in connection with an invasion on a sleeping couple in a house last year.
Jules Carpenter pleaded guilty to the charge Monday before 128th State District Judge Courtney Arkeen. He had been set for a trial.
Assistant District Attorney Phillip Smith said the plea also has Carpenter paying a $1,000 fine.
A couple living in the 600 block of Gunstream Drive, which is off Tulane Road, was awakened about 7 a.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2015. A man held a gun on them while another man took items from the house.
Orange police at the time reported the items included cell phones, cash, a computer, a stereo and a sword. Carpenter was arrested by a patrol officer driving a vehicle on Bowling Lane, which runs off of Tulane Road, a short time after the robbery was reported.
