Carlene Cormier Swenson, 82, of Orange, passed away on November 7, 2024, at her home in Orange.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born in Orange, Texas, on July 14, 1942, she was the daughter of Paul J. Cormier and Jewel Eddie Fusilier. She was a beloved figure in her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and commitment. Carlene was known for her vibrant personality and her love of life’s finer things. She had an affinity for shopping and adored sparkly items that lit up her surroundings, reflecting her lively spirit. Dining out was another passion of hers, where she relished the joy of good food and cherished moments spent with loved ones. A devoted family member, Carlene held a special place in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Grandmother,” a title that she wore with pride. Her twin was not only her sibling but her best friend, sharing countless memories and experiences through the years. Carlene was a faithful member of the Orangefield Baptist Church, where her faith played a significant role in her life. She was known for her strong will. Carlene touched many lives with her kindness and support, firmly establishing her place in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Kenton Swenson, Sr.; her parents, Paul and Jewel Cormier; her grandchild, Melissa Conway; her stepson, Billy Swenson; and her stepdaughter, Beverly Kay Swenson.
She is survived by her son, Kenton Swenson, Jr. and wife, Samantha; her daughter, Tessa Groom; her grandchildren, Lauren Groom, Evan Swenson, Carley McGee, Corrine Swenson, Ashely Swenson, Donna Duhon, and Shae Swenson; her great-grandchildren, Holden McGee, Emmett Swenson, and two more on the way; her sister, Darlene LaFleur; her brother, Bobby Cormier and wife, Devra; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Evan Swenson, Triston McGee, Michael LaFleur, Scott Burleigh, Riley Cole, and Mark Brossette.
