
The Bridge City Cardinals tied Lumberton for the best finish in Southeast Texas in this year’s Lone Star Cup. The LSC honors the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas.
Both schools finished 25th in Class 4A. LCM was 36th, Vidor tied for 71st and WOS tied for 203. In Class 3A the Orangefield Bobcats finished tied for 38th. And in 2A, Deweyville was tied for 148th place.
The winners are: 6A Austin Vandegrift, 5A Aledo, 4A Wimberley, 3A Holliday, 2A Shelbyville, and Jayton in 1A.
The Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications, based on their team performance in district and state championships. The winning schools in each classification will receive the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and a $1,000 scholarship.
