
While all of the other area playoff games were rained out, the Bridge City Cardinals waited out the weather and took the field Thursday night at Lamar University.
The Cards stayed busy on the base paths and outscored Liberty 7-2 to take Game One. Game Two has been moved to Barbers Hill at 7pm Friday.
BC out hit Liberty 7-6. Austyn Frederick was 3-4 with an RBI. Hutch Bearden was 1-2 with an RBI, 2 walks and 2 runs scored. Jace Ramirez brought in two runs and had a stolen base.
The Cards defense also shined with two double plays and a couple of great catches in the outfield to save runs.
Landon Reeves started the game and got the win. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits with 5K’s and 4 walks in 4 innings. Owen Tucker pitched the last three without giving up a run, one strikeout and one walk.
