
Bridge City has to win two games on Friday if they want to get to the State Championship game. The Wimberley Texans defeated BC 4-1 Thursday in Game One of their series in Navasota.
The Texans scored two in the first on a double by Wyatt Yeatter off of starter Max Pachar. BC would respond in the bottom of the frame with CJ Riojas driving in Carson Sauceda after he walked.
Wimberley would add two in the fourth. After a single, Gentry McGinnis doubled to score Cody Stoever. Jake Dewell followed with a single and drove in courtesy runner Reed Wood.
Cards finished with four hits (Riojas, Bounds, Sumrall and a double by Bearden). Slade Landry walked three times. McGinnis (78 pitches) threw five innings, striking out 3 and walking four. Jackson Parker pitched the final two. Pachar was relieved by Trey Goodwin in the seventh after throwing 95 pitches, giving up the four runs on eight hits with 7K’s and a walk. Cards left seven on base.
Games 2/3 of the series begin at 2pm Friday in Navasota.
