Thursday KOGT Radio and Granger Chevrolet teamed up for their 12th Annual Can Drive benefitting the Salvation Army and Orange Christian Services.
Thanks to the generosity of the businesses, organizations and individuals in Orange County, we were able to break our record with more than 16,000 pounds of food and monetary donations.
“It’s become a pretty well oiled machine,” said KOGT Owner Gary Stelly. “The Granger folks and Ralf Mims get the parking lot set up and we bring them in. I think those that give like knowing that it’s staying here to help our residents and we really appreciate everyone’s support.”
A special thank you goes to the schools. The LCM Bass Club, WOS Middle School, WOS Elementary and ELC, Bridge City and Orangefield High School, and Lamar State College Orange. If they weren’t making big donations they were helping to load the trucks.
“I’m so glad the teachers get the kids involved,” said Al Granger. “It’s important to start them young on giving back to their community. That’s what it’s all about.”
