Dry conditions and numerous brush fires over the weekend has prompted the County Judges of Orange, Jefferson, and Newton County to call for a Burn Ban.
Due to current conditions in the region, County Judge John Gothia has issued an Outdoor Burn Ban, effective 9 am Monday, for all of Orange County until further notice.
As of 9 am, October 13, 2025 all outdoor burning is strictly prohibited. This action is being taken as a precautionary measure to protect the lives, homes and property of Orange County residents amid increasingly dry conditions that pose a significant wildfire risk.
“This burn ban is necessary to reduce the potential for dangerous wildfires during this period of drought,” said Judge Gothia. “We are asking all residents to comply with the ban for the safety of the community.”
County officials will continue to closely monitor weather and ground conditions and will lift the ban once it is deemed safe to do so.
