SEMMES, Alabama – Senior Jack Burkecollected his second top 10 finish of the 2024-25 season, securing a tie for 10th at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate to lead the Texas State men’s golf team.
Burke (72-68-70–210) fired a pair of rounds under par en route to a 3-under 210 finish, the fourth time this season the Orange, Texas, native finished under par. The individual finish was also the best of the season for Burke since earning runner-up honors at the Hal Williams Collegiate to open the spring portion of the schedule. For the season, Burke now has 14 rounds even or under par, including four in the 60s, while his 81 birdies, 11 of which came this week, rank second for a Bobcat.
As a team, TXST shot the third lowest round of the final 18, behind only tournament winner South Alabama and runner-up UCF. The host squad went 12-under in the final round to finish -21 across 54 holes. UCF used a 3-under last round to close the tournament at -9. Valparaiso and Jacksonville State tied for third at +3. The Bobcats finished the event +12 and in sixth, its best spring finish since placing fourth at the Hal Williams Collegiate to open 2025.
Jaxon Donaldson (71-74-71–216) was even in two of three rounds to pick up the third top 25 finish of his freshman campaign as his 3-over tournament was good to tie for 23rd. Sakke Siltala (76-71-71–218) bounced back after his first 18 to finish in a tie for 30th and Joel Talusen (74-74-72–220) used a season-best final round to tie for 38th.
