The Orangefield Bobcats saw their baseball season end Saturday after an incredible three game series with the Pollok Central Bulldogs.
After the Bulldogs won game one 5-2 on Thursday the series shifted to Paul Cormier Park in Orangefield where the Bobcats had to feel good about their chances considering they were undefeated at home.
They won the first game 2-0 behind a fantastic pitching performance by senior Landen Tomlinson. Tomlinson threw a four hit shutout with five strikeouts and two walks. OF scored their two runs in the first that included an RBI double by Gunner Jones.
Game Three turned into a wild affair with PC winning 11-9. The Bulldogs were up 6-1 going into the bottom of the fourth and their pitcher Cade Graves was throwing a no hitter despite giving up five walks.
A walk and a couple of errors loaded the bases for Johnny Armstrong. The senior turned the Bobcats first hit of the game into a three run triple. After a walk and a second hit by Kadeon Evans, PC elected to put Mason Gonzales on intentionally to load the bases. Jones made them pay with a two run single to tie the game at six.
The Bulldogs added two more in the fifth and the Bobcats responded with two in the sixth to tie the game at eight.
In the seventh the Bulldogs best hitters came through as Davis had a two run double and clean up hitter Cade Graves added a run scoring single to put CP up 11-8. OF would score in the bottom of the seventh on a RBI single by Logan Gipson but that’s as close as they would get.
OF ends the season 21-12. PC (21-14) will play the Troy Trojans in the fourth round.
5A Nederland, 3A Kirbyville and 2A Evadale are the local teams left in the playoffs.
