The amount of calls for brush fires out of control have been picking up and on Friday, volunteer firefighters were stretched thin as they battled two at the same time.
The first call came in from Lawrence Rd. which runs behind the OC Expo Center near FM1442. Then another call came from Linscomb Rd.
Firefighters from just about every county volunteer dept. and Deweyville were put into service.
It took a couple of hours to get both under control. And just about the time those two fires cleared, a structure fire was reported on Panther Run Rd. off Hwy. 62 near the OCESD #4. We’re still waiting on information from that fire.
The county is not currently under a burn ban but firefighters are asking homeowners to be smarter when burning outside.
