Winds and dry conditions caused a grass/brush fire to jump across a busy road Monday afternoon.
The fire started on the west side of FM 1442 near the Orange County dump according to OCESD 4 Chief Kelley Moore. The fire reached the east side of the road and burned around two acres before firefighters got it under control according to Moore.
“We’re not under a burn ban currently but we really don’t want people to burn this week. The dry conditions and low humidity are too high and it’s putting our firefighters in danger,” Moore said.
Little Cypress and Bridge City assisted with putting out the fire. The cause is under investigation.
