Carl Broussard, a former West Orange-Stark coach, pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of failure to stop and render aid in a collision that killed a mother and her 6-year-old daughter.
The plea did not include a punishment. He will appear in court again in May to have a state district judge pronounce punishment after a pre-sentencing report is made. Broussard could receive two to 20 years in prison plus a maximum $10,000 fine on both charges.
25-year-old Ava Nicole Lewis and her 6-year-old daughter Lamya were killed November 2, 2015, as they walked across MacArthur Drive from a shopping center in the 2200 block. Witnesses saw them hit by a small, white car that drove away.
Broussard, who is now 54, surrendered to police two days later. He resigned from his job at the same time.
