After 35 years of dedicated service to its community, Brookshire Brothers recently announced the closing of the grocery store, fueling station and Tobacco Barn in Vidor, effective August 24. The Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy within the Vidor store will close at 11 a.m. on August 23.
“Brookshire Brothers wants to extend our deepest appreciation to our loyal customers and dedicated staff who have supported us throughout the years,” said Brookshire Brothers President and CEO John Alston. “We hope to continue those relationships in our surrounding southeast Texas stores.”
The grocery store, pharmacy, fueling station and Tobacco Barn all operate under a lease agreement that is set to expire soon. Due to the timing needed to effectively exit the grocery store and return it to the landlord’s control, Alston said it is necessary for Brookshire Brothers to cease operations by August 24.
All prescription files will be transferred to the Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy in Lumberton, Texas, located at 421 S. Main St. Customers needing to refill or transfer medications after August 23 should call the Lumberton pharmacy at 409-227-2004.
Employees at the Vidor location have been notified of the closure.
“We are assisting our employee owners during this transition,” Alston said. “We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication, and they have all been offered positions within the company.”
