To help ease the stress of facing the challenges of eating during the summer, especially as many are feeling the hit on the budget due to the rising fuel costs, Orange Church of God is hosting Community Summer Supper from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. from June 20- June 24 in the church dining hall.
“This was a way to partner with agencies to make sure our children eat,” Senior Pastor Demetrius Moffett said. “During the summer it is more challenging for children to have a balanced meal and we wanted to be inclusive of the entire family.”
Moffett added many school age children only have a proper meal at school due to economic challenges.
“People get paid on the first of the month and by the end of the month things get a little tight,” Moffett said. “This will help stretch their funds a few more days.”
It was also why the church opted to hold the event towards the end of the month as it would help more families.
“We also kicked off our Summer Slam program from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.,” Moffett said. “We feed the children but this dinner is a way to be inclusive of the whole family.”
Orange Church of God partnered with 5 Under and Sysco Nourishing Neighbors to bring the event to Orange.
Orange Church of God is located at 1911 16th Street in Orange. All are welcome to attend the free event.
