The Texas Department of Public Safety, with the assistance of the Texas Department of Transportation, will close the Rainbow and Veterans Bridges on Wednesday when sustained wind speeds reach 44 mph. Access points to both bridges will be closed due to safety concerns for motorists and first responders.
During hurricane conditions, roads, bridges and elevated structures are impacted and can make driving hazardous. Both bridges will remain closed to traffic until state emergency officials determine that travel across the bridges is safe for the motoring public.
