The bridges going over Adams Bayou on the I-10 Service Rd. in Orange have now been removed as part of the I-10 widening project.
The bridges being removed were not a part of the original plan, but persistence by citizens and county officials paid off. Their case was that the bridges and pylons in or near the water affected flood waters from moving down the bayou to the Sabine River, causing flooding in homes and businesses north of the interstate.
“Those pylons will be coming out too,” said Commissioner Johnny Trahan. “And the turn arounds will also stay and be rebuilt.” Hopefully the contractors will clean out the concrete that falls into the water.
There isn’t a timetable on how long the project will take. On and Off ramps onto I-10 are located right before and after crossing Adams Bayou.
