Jeff Breaux is the new Orangefield Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. The school board voted him in unanimously Monday night during the called school board meeting.
Breaux comes to Bobcat Country from Little Cypress-Mauriceville where he was the Offensive Coordinator. He came to LCM with Eric Peevey from West Brook where they took the Bruins to the 6A D2 title game in 2018, losing by one to Longview 35-34.
Besides LCM , WB and one season at East Chambers, the 41 year old Sulphur native has also coached at the collegiate level, spending two years each at Lamar, McNeese, and Henderson State. He’s also married and has two daughters. He takes over for Josh Smalley, who left to take the Bridge City job in December.
It will be the first time Breaux has been and AD/HFC. “My time at LCM and with Coach Peevey, I feel, has helped me prepare for this. He let me follow him around and see how it’s done.”
Peevey hated to lose Breaux and wishes him the best. “I’ve had the pleasure working with Jeff Breaux for 10 seasons,” Peevey said, “Jeff in my opinion is one of the best offensive coordinators in the state, and his stats are there to prove it. As a former Bobcat, I can not be more happier for my hometown school with this hire. They have definitely hired the right guy for the job, and he will do great things there.”
Asked why Orangefield was the right place for him, he said, “The community. And the athletic success in all sports here. I want success in every sport and I’m excited to get going.” He officially takes over Feb. 1 but will be introducing himself to the athletes in the next couple of days.
