Derek Brasher of Vidor, who attends Kelly High School in Beaumont has been selected as a National Merit Scholarship award winner. This is a phenomenal achievement, as it recognizes the top HALF percent (only 7,500 are selected out of over 1.6 million) of students in their grade nationwide.
Brasher is also an Eagle Scout, Ambassador for Kelly HS, AP Scholar student, Seminary Student, and All-District Football player and All-State Soccer player. He plans to attend BYU and serve a 2 year church mission for his church.
