
All-Tournament selection Brayden Parker (above) and the Orangefield Bobcats got two big wins Saturday to win the Bobcat Classic.
Coach Jake McDonald’s club faced a long and tall Jasper team in the semifinals. Down 30-28 at the half the Bobcats turned it up in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 35-20 and taking home the 63-50 win. Pete Ragusa had 19 pts, Jaden Scales 17 and Zane Wrinkle 13 to lead Orangefield while Cameron Dischler pulled down 8 rebounds.
In the finals the Bobcats faced a much improved Vidor team, who defeated Bridge City in the other semifinal 72-46 with 14 made three-pointers.
The Bobcats held a 16 point lead in the second half but the Pirates climbed back in it and cut the lead to two with 1:25 left. Some key free throws down the stretch allowed the Bobcats to get the victory 61-56. Tournament MVP Pete Ragusa scored 30, Wrinkle added 14 and Parker 10.
Joining Parker and Ragusa on the All-Tournament Team were Wrinkle and Scales, along with Vidor’s Bryce Loftin who had 18 in the final, and Zander Lindsey who added 15.
In the third place game the Cardinals lost a close one to Jasper 59-56. BC’s Bryce Linder had an incredible game with 26 pts and 11 Rebounds.
