The Bridge City Lady Cardinals saw their run for the State Championship fall short with a 49-45 loss to Fredericksburg at Rudder HS in Bryan.
After scoring just six points in the first quarter, their shooting woes continued in the second as they didn’t score a bucket until there was 1:47 left in the half. They were down 24-11 at the break.
But they came out firing in the third the Billies 24-13 to get back in it. It was 35 all with 44 seconds left in the third.
The Lady Cards (31-3) hung with Fredericksburg through the first half of the fourth quarter before Aubrey Small and Mia Sterling fouled out. As expected they never gave up, it was just the Billies night.
Sterling had 12 and Small 10 as everyone got into the scorebook. We congratulate two BC seniors for their leadership, Kaylee Britten (3) and Kennedy Campbell (5).
