Saturday was bracket play at the Orangefield Lady Bobcat Volleyball tournament.
From Thursday’s pool play the following teams advanced to the White Bracket – Evadale, Deweyville, Orangefield JV, and WOS. Advancing to the Orange Bracket was – Hamshire Fannett, Buna, Anahuac, and Orangefield.
Orangefield Junior Varsity continued their impressive play by taking care of both Evadale (25-21, 21-25, and 15-13) and Deweyville (25-19, 25-10) in their opening games to advance to the Championship of the White Bracket.
Deweyville would come back and beat OFJV for the White Bracket Championship 19-25, 25-13, 15-8. OF Coach Ashlee Peevey said, “I’m incredibly proud of this JV team. It was a team effort with standout net play from Ava Dyer, defense from Paris Becker, and freshman Jaydin Agerton alongside Addisyn Moore set up the offense well.”
In the Orange Bracket, the Lady Bobcats beat Hamshire Fannett (18-25, 25-21, and 15-13) and then Buna (25-18, 15-25, and 15-13) to advance to the Championship where they would face H-F again and come away with the title for the second year in a row 25-21, 25-16. Greenlea Oldham had 2 blocks and 4 kills, Kylie Mouton had a team high 7 kills on 7 attempts, and Kaitlyn Jenkins and Libby Thurman each had 2 aces.
The Lady Bobcats will be hosting Deweyville at home on Tuesday with the Freshman team starting at 4:30, JV and Varsity to follow.
