Bobbie Powell Tilley, age 83 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service will be held at Sycamore Cemetery in Burkeville, Texas on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 2:00 pm. There will be visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at the cemetery before the service.
Bobbie was born in Burkeville, Texas on August 10, 1935 to Mildred and RJ “Bob” Powell. She was an interior decorator for many years, starting her career at Sears and Roebuck on MacArthur Drive in Orange, Texas. Once their children were grown they moved to Jasper, Texas to continue her passion for sewing drapes, while working together with her husband who hung the drapes along with wallpaper. Bobbie soon enjoyed a new hobby and devoted her time to the Sycamore Cemetery/Church,/ Schoolhouse and the Cade Building in Burkeville, Texas; this brought her so much joy.
Bobbie was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her son Jimmy Don Tilley; parents, Mildred and RJ “Bob” Powell; brothers, Roger Powell; and son-in-law, Bob French.
Bobbie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert Tilley; son, Ray Tilley and wife Melanie of Orange; son Jerry Tilley and wife, Lynda of Mauriceville; daughter Penny French of Orange: son Wendell Tilley and wife, Stacy of Orange; sister Frances Jarrell and husband Melton of Burkeville; brother JE Powell and wife, Vicki of Burkeville: sister Linda Sue Hobbs and husband, T, of Jasper; grandchildren Dustin and Melissa Tilley, Derek and Meagan Tilley, Laurie Price, Mandy and Robby Simon, Christine Bedwell, Greg and Anne Pope, Kaycie and Lance Ellis, Kellie Stephen Vaughan; 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Tilley, Derek Tilley, Robby Simon, Greg Pope, Mike Powell and Stephen Vaughan.
