
Bobbie Jean Malmay, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 1, 2025, in Vidor, Texas. Born on May 17, 1935, in Newton County, Texas, she lived a vibrant life filled with love for her family and a passion for music, dancing, and games.
Jean was known for her lively spirit and the way she brought joy to those around her. Described as a firecracker, she kept a neat, clean, and orderly home that reflected her personality. Family was always her utmost priority, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her daughters, Norma Osborne and Donna Potts Wike and her husband James “Jimmy” Wikes. Jean also enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, Kelli Houghton and her husband Daniel Houghton II, and Eric Fox and his wife Jamie Fox. Her legacy continues with her great-grandchildren, Nathan, Macy, Brady, and Mason, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Jean is preceded in death by her son, John Rayford Potts, the father of her children, Victor Norman Potts, Jr.; and her son-in-law, Ralph “Ozzie” Osborne. She was also preceded by her siblings—Roy Crowson, Edward Crowson, Vernon Crowson, Wanda Forse, George Crowson, and Wiley Crowson—as well as her parents, Charles and Lizzie Crowson.
A visitation will be held on October 5, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at LaBrie Claybar Funeral Service located at 1155 N 11th St, Beaumont, TX 77702.
Jean’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her amazing caretakers while she was home, along with the staff of Altus Hospice in Beaumont, Texas and during her short stay with the staff and friends at Vidor Health and Rehab Center in Vidor, Texas.
Jean Malmay will be remembered for her warmth, laughter, and unwavering love for her family, who meant everything to her. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
