
Billy Mills McAfee, age 90, of Lufkin, Texas, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 in Lufkin. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Dorman Funeral Home. A graveside ceremony to honor Billy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas with Rev. Cody Hogden officiating.
Billy was born on July 8, 1931 in Orangefield, Texas to parents Lena Mae Patterson McAfee and Odle Mills McAfee. Billy proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. He retired after many years of being a Ship Repair Coordinator with Levingston Shipbuilding in Orange, Texas and Todd Shipyard in Galveston, Texas. Billy married his sweetheart, Frances Jordan, on July 11, 1959 in Orangefield, Texas and the couple shared 62 years together. He was a man of faith and was longtime member of Colmesneil Baptist Church. Billy and his wife, Frances were very fortunate to be able to travel the world together and have many wonderful memories of their adventures. He also loved to go camping, fishing and hunting. Billy was also a proud and avid gardener. Billy loved his family and will be greatly missed by all of those he impacted with his love and strong character.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents Odle and Lena McAfee, sisters Sue Roan and Belle Short, brothers Tom McAfee and Rusty McAfee, father-in-law CJ Jordan, mother-in-law Eunice Jordan Schaffer, and brother-in-law Jack Jordan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Frances McAfee, son Billy “Bill” McAfee, Jr., daughter Cindy Melder and her husband Russell, grandson Kenneth Dans, sisters Wynona Johnson and Helen Locke, and sister-in-law Ann Minden and her husband Arlo Minden.
