
Billy A. Singleton, 95, of Orange, passed away on October 24, 2025, in Orange.
Born in Jennings, Louisiana on November 5,1929, she was the daughter of John D. Atwell and Harriet Josephine Hardy Atwell. Throughout her life, Billy was an entrepreneurial spirit, owning several businesses that showcased her dedication and hard work. Her passion for entrepreneurship not only defined her career but also reflected her strong will and innovative mindset. In addition to her professional pursuits, Billy had a love for antiques, which she collected with enthusiasm and discerning taste. These treasures were not merely objects of beauty to her; they represented stories from the past and her appreciation for history. She was always one to keep busy, continually seeking new projects and activities that filled her days with purpose and joy. Billy was always offering a helping hand and made sure everyone around her had what they needed no matter what. She was always very generous with those less fortunate. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Harriet Atwell; and her loving husbands, William “Bill” Cordell, and Bob Singleton.
She is survived by her son, Mike Cordell; her daughter, Lanier Tankersley and husband, Richmond; her grandchildren, Joshua Cordell and wife, Katherine, Thomas Cordell, Jacob Cordell, Eric Cordell, Joseph Cordell, Desaix Hill, and Stephen Tankersley; her 8 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
