Billie Sue Kyles was born on February 23, 1932, to the late Arthur and Blanche Johnson in Newton, TX.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at King Chapel C.M.E. Church. She was married to
Clinton Adams, and from this union, two sons were born.
She later moved to Orange where she met Mr. Eldon Kyles (better known as L.C.), and they were
married in 1962. She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s C.M.E. Church, where she served as a
Stewardess.
Cats were her greatest love and devotion; she was fondly known as “The Cat Lady.” She was incredibly devoted to her grandson (Snapper) and her nieces and nephews and consistently organized family reunions to keep her extended family close, loved and supported.
She loved piecing together jigsaw puzzles and solving the daily crossword puzzles in the Beaumont
Enterprise and the Orange Leader newspapers. She cherished the outdoors and was happiest when working in her garden, flower beds and taking care of her lawn.
Her working years included being a member of the housekeeping team at the local Holiday Inn Hotel.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Helen Jones, Dorothy Simmons, and Arthur Bell
Ervin; and her brothers: Jenrett, Tommy Lee, and Lee Edward Johnson.
Billie departed this life on January 22, 2025, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX. She leaves to survive, her sister, Betty Sears, of Jasper, TX; two sons, Clinton Adams Jr (Erma) of Houston, TX and Claude Adams of Cypress, TX, five grandchildren; Sheila Clevenger (Israel) and Rosetta Lindsay (Edward) both of Houston, Wilbert Wallace of Orange, Christopher Adams of Cypress and Jamal Adams (Erin) of Fort Worth, TX; eight great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Billie’s family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace with her Savior, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
