
A 61-year-old bicyclist had to be taken by ambulance to the local emergency room after being hit by a car about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday on 15th Street off Burton Avenue. Orange police report he did not have a white light on the front of the bike and he was wearing all black clothing in a dark area.
Police said a 41-year-old woman from Orange was driving a Chevrolet Sonic in the 1600 block of Burton Avenue. A 7-year-old girl was a passenger in the car.
The Sonic was traveling east on Burton and then turned left onto 15th Street. The bicycle was traveling east on Burton and crossed 15th Street into the path of the car, police said.
Peter Paul Trahan was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Baptist Hospital Orange Emergency Room. Police described his injuries as non-incapacitating.
