A burglary in Beaumont led to two high-speed chases, one on Interstate 10 that ended with a crash in Orange early Thursday morning. Six suspects were arrested in Hardin County and in Orange County involved in the burglary and the chases.
The Beaumont Police report a citizen at about 4:15 AM Thursday noticed two vehicles with at least six males breaking into the AT&T Store on Dowlen Road in Beaumont. Police observed the two vehicles which then fled north on Highway 69 towards Hardin County.
One of the vehicles lost control in the grassy median of the highway in Lumberton. Four suspects fled their damaged vehicle on foot. Three of the four have since been arrested after being sought by the Hardin County Sheriff’s deputies and the Lumberton Police.
The second vehicle eluded police for close to an hour being pursued to Kountze, through Sour Lake, back into Beaumont, and then onto Interstate 10 eastbound. At 5:15 AM the suspects lost control of their vehicle and crashed near the Adams Bayou bridge in Orange.
Three suspects attempted to flee on foot, but were all apprehended by Beaumont Police. Two of those arrested suspects are adults and the third is a juvenile. Police believe both vehicles were stolen from Harris County.
