The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Battlin’ Bears used a second quarter 26-point explosion to soar by the Vidor Pirates, 60-37, for a big win in District 10-4A Division II.
Vidor took the opening possession and looked to be moving the ball into scoring position, when LC-M defensive back Dawson Stanley stripped the ball from the Pirates running back and raced 72 yards for the touchdown and a 7-0 LC-M lead with 9:42 left in the first quarter.
Following a Vidor punt, the Bears only needed three plays to extend the lead to 14-0. Running back J’Lynn Morris ran for 32-yards to the 1-yard line, where Dystan Payne punched it in on a quarterback sneak the next play.
