Huffman pitcher Christin Haygood proved to be too good in Game One of their best of three series with LCM. The Lady Falcons pitcher took a perfect game into the sixth inning and finished with 10K’s in a 4-1 win in Crosby.
Huffman scored two in the second and one in the third to take a 3-0 lead going into the sixth when Ansley Moore broke up the perfect game with a lead off single. Karson Friar reached on a fielders choice and came home when Madeline Stephenson doubled to make it 3-1.
Huffman would add a run in the bottom of the sixth to get their three run lead back. Bailey Frenzel lead off the seventh with a single but that would be all as the Lady Bears finished with three hits.
Friar struck out seven and walked five in the loss.
The Bears will have to do what they did against Hardin-Jefferson and win the next two to advance. Game Two is Thursday in Bridge City beginning at 6pm on KOGT.
