KOGT has uncovered the secret of LCM quarterback Adam Pope having the “hot hand” lately. Last week on a chilly Friday, Pope was using a Chick-Fil-A bag to keep his hands warm. He picked a part the Lumberton defense with an 18-0 win.
LCM Trainer Sherry Hoffpauir said the bag came in handy after Chick-Fil-A left the bag and has yet to pick it up. The Bears used the bag to keep the footballs warm and the homecoming king followed suit. There’s also the unconfirmed rumor that he really went to the bag hoping to find a chicken sandwich and then realized how warm it was inside the bag…
Either way there’s a pretty good bet the bag will make the trip to Huffman tonight when the Bears face Navasota for a 7:30 start on KOGT in the 4A D1 playoffs. Temperature during the game is expected to be between 50-55 degrees.
The LCM Bears will be looking to write some history and be the first Bear team to win a playoff game since 1997. The ’97 Bears won three playoff games before losing to LaMarque 41-20 in the fourth round.
The winner will play the winner between Midlothian Heritage and Kilgore. Midlothian is the favorite.
