Peyton Havard signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as an undrafted free agent on Tuesday.
The Bridge City native posted a 7-2 record and a 2.73 ERA in 22 appearances in five starts with a 1.07 WHIP.
Havard also tallied 79 strikeouts, two shutouts and five saves in 62.2 innings pitched while he held opponents to a .220 batting average.
He ranked third in the Southland Conference in ERA, sixth in opposing batting average, third in strikeouts, tied for third in wins and fifth in saves.
Havard was named a Division I All-American based on the wins above replacement metric by 6-4-3 Charts as he earned third team honors with a 1.7 WAR.
In addition, he was also named a Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 14 after he struck out 11 batters in five innings of relief during a 5-4 extra-inning win over Nicholls.
Havard transferred to Lamar in 2024 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
During the 2024 season, he made two starts and pitched in 23 games as he compiled a 4.82 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 37.1 innings pitched.
Havard becomes the sixth Lamar Cardinal to either be drafted or signed by the Philadelphia Phillies.
He also becomes the 29th player in program history to sign as an undrafted free agent.
Anthony Quirion and Jack Dallas were the last players to be signed by the Phillies as undrafted free agents in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Dallas is currently with the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils while Quirion is in the Frontier League with the Quebec Capitales.
