Hitter of the Week – Kasey Frederick, Nicholls
Nicholls outfielder and first baseman Kasey Frederick hit safely in all four games last week, including a walk-off single in game two of the doubleheader to Southeastern Louisiana. The win helped preserve the Colonels’ perfect record at home this season. The sophomore product from Bridge City, Texas, started the week with a single to center to drive in a run in the Colonels’ near upset of No. 12 LSU. In the sweep over the Lions to improve Nicholls to 8-1 in conference play, Frederick was six-for-seven at the plate, highlighted by a three-for-three game in the 4-3 victory that clinched the series. With two down in the seventh and the game tied at 3-3, Frederick ripped a shot in the gap for the walk-off win. She capped the series with another multi-hit game, which included her third double of the series. Frederick finished the series with a .700 batting average, 1.000 slugging percentage and reached base 10 times in the weekend series. The award is Nicholls’ first Hitter of the Week honor this season.
