The Bridge City Class of 2023 has already made their mark before the school year started.
Dakota Linder (above) and her helper were smart enough to beat the heat with a pop up tent as seniors start their year not with pens, paper, and laptops, but with rollers, paint and masking tape.
“They line up like a Black Friday Sale,” said BC Activities Director Cheryl Royal. The morning after the last official day of school for the ’22 Seniors is the day the incoming senior class is allowed to select their reserved parking spot. And most mark their spot by painting it.
“It’s on a first come first serve basis,” Royal said. “I had kids here at 4:45am and I don’t open my door until 7:45am. It’s really turned into a neat thing because we get to see the creativity of our kids.”
Of course all designs have to be approved.
Are there primo spots? Royal says “Yes, the middle row is popular. And the Strutters and Cheerleaders like to be closer to the PE Gym.”
Teachers went back to school August 1. Students roll into the parking lot and return to class August 10.
