The Bridge City Cardinal soccer team qualified for the playoffs for the first time in school history after a 3-0 win over Vidor Wednesday at Larry Ward Stadium. The soccer program is in its 12th season.
The Cards took a 2-0 lead at half with Blake Moore scoring the first goal and Kian Perry the second. In the last half Alberto Munguia scored a goal on a penalty kick.
Coach Landry praised the defense of Jaylen Jones, Kameron Bertand, and Victor Hernandez while goalkeeper Jackson Guidry posted another shutout.
“This has been three years in the making,” Landry told his team. “When we work hard and compete, good things can happen…and you’re going to the playoffs!”
The Cards are 11-7 overall and 6-4 in district with Lumberton and LCM still on the schedule.
