Bridge City has followed the cities of Vidor and Orange in approving a resolution opposing Orange County financing a Texas Department of Transportation roadway at the present time. The resolutions appear to be in opposition to the Commissioners Court continuing to consider financing the construction of FM Loop 299 in the Vidor Area.
Jerry Jones the City Manager of Bridge City said the resolution the city council approved in his city was a copy of the one first approved by the Vidor City Council. Jones indicated Vidor requested Bridge City consider the resolution and several representatives of the Vidor municipal government including Mayor Robert Viator and City Manager Mike Kunst attended the city council meeting in Bridge City this week and spoke in favor of the resolution which opposes the county basically funding the proposed Loop 299 around Vidor. The resolution was approved unanimously by the city council in Bridge City.
Pinehurst City Administrator Robbie Hood confirmed he has received the same resolution for consideration by the Pinehurst City Council, but did not have time to put it on this month’s council agenda. Hood wants to show it to Mayor Pete Runnels before putting the resolution on the November Pinehurst City Council agenda.
