The municipal election in Bridge City was ordered Tuesday by the City Council. Three positions on the council will be on the ballot for the May 4 election.
All three incumbents Carl Harbert, Tammi Fisette, and Terri Gauthier have filed with the city secretary to run for another term. No challengers had filed as of Tuesday.
The council approved holding the city’s election jointly with other entities in the county. The elections of the Bridge City School District, the Orange County Navigation and Port District, and the Orange County Drainage District will be held in conjunction with the municipal election.
The City Council approved calling a joint public hearing with the Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday, February 25. The Planning and Zoning Commission will hear two separate requests for zone changes on Ferry Drive.
Bridge City Police Chief Paul Davis presented his 2018 Racial Profiling Report. Davis said his department had 4,405 traffic stops last year. Officers conducted 65 searches as part of those stops with 52 resulting in contraband being discovered. The Bridge City Police made 77 arrests from the traffic stops.
