Work is being done to improve the drainage throughout Orange County especially in the two years since Harvey. This has involved the extensive clearing of ditches throughout the county and other projects.
A fairly noticeable project to improve the drainage in the greater Orange area is underway along Adams Bayou. Crews are working at clearing trees and brush from the banks of the bayou adjacent to Park Avenue.
Pinehurst City Administrator Robbie Hood provided the goal for the work being done by the Orange County Drainage District. They will be desilting Adams Bayou to deepen the channel of it. But that will come after the clearing of the banks. “They’ve already started some work on it and cleared it out so it’s going to help us drain water faster,” Hood explained.
Hood added that the crews are looking for access to Adams Bayou at different locations to do dredging. He indicated both north and south banks of the bayou will have work done.
