Hard to believe how similar this season and last season have been for Josh Smalley’s Bridge City Cardinals and Eric Peevey’s LCM Bears. But here we are, both teams sitting 4-0 in District 10-4A. After Friday’s game LCM still has Huffman and Lumberton. The Cards have Liberty and Huffman. So Friday’s game doesn’t determine the district champ but the winner is in the drivers seat.
Who are the leaders on each squad? BC QB Hudson Hoffman leads the district in passing 112-164 for 1620 yds. and 22 TD’s with 4 interceptions. Albert Munguia is his leading receiver (58/873/11). Jakson Struwe is 57-102 for 1010 yds. and 10 TD’s with 5 interceptions. His leading receiver is KD Reed (20/430/4). LCM’s J’Lynn Morris is their leading rusher with 587 yds. on 71 carries and 9 scores while Ashton Sumrall leads the Cards with 534 yds. on 97 carries.
Defensively the Cards are anchored by #10 Bryce Breeden and #11 Koby Dean. The Bears defense is lead in tackles by #10 Dystan Payne and #18 Christian Carrillo.
2024 Recap: BC held an 18-14 lead in the fourth when LCM scored on an 11 yd. pass from Braylon Lewis to Evan Worster for the 21-18 win.
How do the two teams match up this season? Let’s look at the Tale of the Tape.
