Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas sent a message to the Orange city manager saying the group is “very willing to discuss options for the Orange facility.” City Manager Dr. Shawn Oubre, along with leaders from other cities in Orange County and County Judge Brint Carlton have been meeting to see if the old Baptist Hospital Orange, which quit serving overnight patients in May, could be used as a Veterans Administration hospital. U.S. Representative Brian Babin’s office plus VA representatives have also been participating in the meetings. The message from Mary Poole, director of communications for Baptist Hospitals Southeast Texas, was approved by David Parmer, the president of the area hospital system. The note also says “we are genuinly interested in collaborating to benefit our Veterans. We look forward to hearing more information as this project progresses.”
