Congressman Dr. Brian Babin held a Veterans’ Town Hall Meeting Tuesday night in Orange. Close to 100 veterans attended the meeting at the American Legion Lloyd Grubbs Post 49 Hall. Congressman Babin said the town hall meetings are to discuss the issues facing veterans. Babin heard concerns from veterans about doctor appointments that were hard to get, delays in getting health insurance claims processed, Choice Cards that are not being accepted by local doctors, and other concerns getting access to the Veterans’ Administration. Babin who is a veteran believes there were promises made to the veterans when they served our country and now that they need help they are being ignored. Babin exclaims, “There is no excuse for that.” Tuesday night’s meeting is the fourth such veterans’ town hall meeting held by Babin. In attendance were four representatives from the Veterans’ Administration and Mark Hammer with the Orange County Veterans Office. Veterans were encouraged to meet with the Veterans’ Administration representatives after the meeting especially if they had any problems with support and services from the VA. The officials took names and contact numbers while promising to get back to the veterans this week with answers to their questions and concerns.
