Audrey Jean Hawkins
“Famously known as Nan”
Audrey Jean Hawkins went home to heaven peacefully on September 11, 2022. She was born on December 21, 1943, in Caddo Mills, Texas, to Filo and Edna Wallace. In 1964 she married her husband, Floyd Hawkins. She lived in Caddo Mills and later moved to Groves, Texas, with her husband. She worked at Groves Middle School in the cafeteria and retired. Later in life, she and her husband moved to Orange, Texas.
In life, Audrey loved her husband, her three grandchildren, her daughter, her son-in-law, her best friend/adventure buddy, and her two dogs. Her grandchildren were a big part of her life, and she adored them so much. She enjoyed watching Chicago Fire and school night slumber parties with Jenna, watching Alabama football on Saturdays and sewing with Jaysie, and eating Chinese food and watching movies with Cody. She loved going to Starbucks and driving around town with her best friend, Lorretta. She loved her dogs so much. Marley was her “Moo Moo,” and Daisy was her “Pig Pig.” She enjoyed Black Friday shopping every year, and it was quite an adventure with Audrey Jean. Audrey was known as Nan to family and friends. As she would say, “I am Nan to many.”
She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hawkins, of 48 years; her parents, Filo and Edna Wallace; her brothers, Jasper, Henry, Filo Jr., and Billie Wallace; and her two dogs, Marley and Daisy.
She is survived by her daughter, Terri Banken, and husband, Jayson Banken; her grandchildren, Jenna, Jaysie, and Cody; her best friend/adventure buddy, Loretta Berry; and close friends, Curtis and Aletha Jackson. There are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other close friends that she loved.
A visitation will be from 1 pm – 2pm and a memorial service will be at 2 pm on Friday, September 16th, 2022, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas, with Jayson Banken officiating. In place of flowers/memorial contributions, please donate to the Cancer Foundation, a charity of your choice, or an animal rescue.
We want to thank Altus Hospice in Beaumont for everything they did for our Nan. A special thank you to Judy, Chloe, Brandy, and Sandra with Altus, who showed our Nan care and compassion.
