Stage 3 of the inclusive playground Stay and Play at Little Cypress Intermediate School was dedicated Friday. The playground opened in 2013 and had a safety rubberized surface installed in 2016.
The facility now has a metal roof which will shield the students when they play there on rainy days or block the sun on other days when it is hot and sunny. The playground’s equipment allows children with special needs to play and have fun with other students.
Kelly Meadows with Little Cypress Intermediate has been active in developing the inclusive playground which can now be used in all kinds of weather. Meadows agreed, “We’ll open it during the school day to our own students and then we’ll open it periodically to the community inviting friends and families with special needs children to bring everybody out and let’s play together.” Meadows thanked the many corporate and private donors that provided money to help build Stay and Play.
