As travel increased for the Thanksgiving holiday, a credit card skimmer was found on a gas pump at a store off Interstate 10 at Higway 62. Orange police went to the Circle K Valero, 7253 Interstate 10, Tuesday night. An officer reported an employee found the skimmer and removed it. Police took the skimmer as evidence.
Thieves place the skimmers on gasoline pumps or vending machines that use credit and debit cards. When a card is used, the skimmer sends the card numbers and PINs to the thieves, who can then make unauthorized charges. Police advise to check for skimmers before using a card, particularly outdoors.
